One down one to go

Yes finally I have finished my first essay! All 3133 words of it, all in French on 4 different books. The last book I like to call my book de merde because it was so rubbish, I gave up reading it half way through, I couldn't bear it anymore. So at least I now have the skeleton of an essay, it needs modifications obviously. So roll on the next one! I may buy myself a nice new digital camera if I finish both my essays within the holidays. So just another 3000 words to go and some reading. But oh no it isn't my work finished as I have a ridiculous amount of reading to do for 4th year, already, and it hasn't even started yet.

My holidays have been very relaxed so far, not done much, stayed in the flat all day yesterday. I am going to Nantes tomorrow to meet up with my friend from Uni whom I haven't seen since May last year when we did our last exam together. So I am looking forward to that, and then on Friday I am heading off for 5 days to a different part of Bretagne (or Brittany, but I prefer it in French). So I'm quite looking forward to the change of scene that I'm going to get. Holidays pass so quickly don't they? It's actually quite scary how fast my time here is passing! Ahh the thought of going back to uni is not good; tutorials, reading, essays, blurgh. Mike hope you are better!

Paella - Friday 17th February

Well what can I say? Last week was a fab week. I have fully recovered from my illness and had a really good last week of term before our 2weeks holidays. I didn't have that many classes as some of the pupils were away on work placements and excursions.

Well my Friday started with a small Apero or small party in the staff room at the end of the day. We finished classes at 11.45 and we didn't leave until 1.30 from the school. It all started with a joke about me driving one of the teacher's cars, and then when we were leaving he handed me the keys and in I got and drove the car. It was ace to be back in the driving seat again. It was really easy after you got used to it, occasionally I smacked my hand against the door when I was looking for the gears. One of the teacher's was behind us (i was going to her house) and she said she was laughing because she drives fast but I was faster! Confidence eh!

Then in the evening we had a paella night, there were 12 of us who work in the Collège. It was a fantastic night. The pic above shows one of the plates of paella, of course as I don't like sea food I had only meat. It tasted very good. I drank a lot, well we all drank a lot. We played a drinking game, which is hard enough in English when you are drunk, but it's really difficult in French when you are drunk. We also played this other one about cows, every time you got the tongue twister wrong you got a mark. We eventually went to sleep at 5.15am, then i got woken up at 9am, no surprises not feeling so good at all. I got home around 12.30pm and went straight to sleep until 16hr. However, it was an excellent night out, everyone was in good spirits, I have loads of photos to remind me of the night!

So roll on the next 2 weeks of holidays. It's my flatmate's birthday on Friday so I am currently attempting to organise something, although she doesn't know it. With the help of some of the other teachers we will be able to do something. Other than that I am planning on finishing off my work for uni and visiting the region. Should be fun!

Health is better than wealth

Well what a week, I am glad a new one has started. I finally seem to be on the mend after over a week of illness. Basically I had my cold all last weekend, then on Wednesday I got a really nasty stomach bug. I hadn't eaten a proper meal until Sunday since last Tuesday. I've been living on bread because it was the only thing I could eat, and on Friday I dared eat a crepe. This is my last week of term before 2 weeks holidays, crikey where does the time seem to be going. I'm ever so proud as managed to start my essay this weekend. I got bored and decided to start it. On Friday all the teachers from the Collège, where I work the most, are having a Paella Night at a maths teacher's house. So that should be fun. An end of term get together. I'm eating crepes with my 4ème class (about 14yrs old) on Thursday as we are doing Pancake Day. So not much to report from this week except that I've been ill. Went to the school nurse, which was quite embarrassing. Met a pupil there who thought I was a pupil, then he thought I was an educateur, afterwards an other pupil explained that I was actually like a teacher in the school. Apparantly I look young to work at my school. Roll on the last week of term!! Oh and the Winter Olympics!

Go Scotland!

What can I say, I am very proud to be Scottish today! Just finished watching the 2nd half of the rugby match Scotland vs. France, which we won 20-16. Hahahaha! Everyone here told me we were going to lose!! I can laugh in their face now. It's even better that we won whilst I have been out here. That cheered me right up after this weekend. Have been ill since Friday, just a cough and a very sore throat, but I'm starting to feel a little bitter. I haven't done anything all weekend so that I could recover asap from this. What a busy week last week was. I am currently helping to organise a school trip to the UK in June, woah. Loads of work. Trying to find accommodation for 20 people is not easy. Actually I phoned London on Thursday, and I didn't understand what the two people I spoke to were saying, I had to keep saying "pardon" and asking them to repeat things. Crikey, my English has gone down the pan! Turning into a French person! I reckon it was just because the accent was a bit crazy. So I will be organising that for the next few months I think. It's out mid-semester break in 2 weeks time, 2 weeks off. Just in time for the winter olympics! Roll on this week, with probably more phone calls to various places in the UK and of course classes! Allez écosse! On a gagné!
