Let it snow!

Snow snow all around! I took a whole bunch of photos because it is so unusual to see snow in this part of France, especially because I am only about 30mins away from the sea. It had been extra specially cold last week, the car was thick with ice every morning. Then on Saturday it started snowing just a little bit in the morning, it stopped, then started again and it got quite heavy. The above picture is the result. It stopped late last night. No sign of snow today which is a shame because everything looks so pretty. We walked Neptune in the snow and he really enjoyed it. He resembled a sheep though because the snow stuck to his coat. So I spent my Saturday admiring the snow. It always snows at the weekend so we never get any days off work. Typical eh? I don't think it's been as cold here as in Eastern parts of Europe, but it's still been quite nippy. Today I am possibly going to attempt - yes again - some uni work.

Wednesday oh what a glorious day

I have today off which is quite nice, it is such a lovely day. Pretty cold though, but not as cold as everywhere else in the world I think. I dedicated today to doing my laundry, which involves leaving my flat which is kind of annoying, and it seemed to take forever, not only that but the laundry place was freezing. It's quite nice because everyday there are these people who ride their horses past my flat, and I can hear the sound of the hooves on the road. They are massive horses though! I've also been preparing a class for tomorrow, last week we did Auld Lang Syne and since it's Burns day today i decided to do finish up with a bit of Burns stuff, and then Flower of Scotland. So hopefully it'll go down alright tomorrow, however, I think the pupils might find the music a little funny, I can understand that though!

The Weekend

Well I am quite fortunate because I have a half day on Fridays and I don't work Mondays, so I have a nice long weekend. This weekend I didn't do much actually, which was quite nice, spent most of it in the flat just chilling. I attempted to do a bit of University work but failed miserably. On Saturday I spent the whole day setting up the internet in my flat. Firstly I had one of the wires in the wrong place, of course all the instructions are in French, then I couldn't get my laptop to connect. I tried my flatmate's PC and that didn't work either so I went back to mine and installed something which didn't work either. So I uninstalled and all of a sudden my internet worked for no apparant reason on my lap top. Then I spent all day mucking around on the net and watching tv. In the evening I tried my flatmate's PC again, and for some random reason it started working. The internet was being totally weird, but it works so I don't ask any questions!

On Sunday I made a failed attempt at starting my essay for Uni, and didn't get anywhere at all. So I gave up and watched MONK instead on TV. Yep didn't really do anything exciting on Sunday, but sometimes it's nice like that.

On Monday I went to Lorient for a few hours to browse the shops. However, I didn't find anything I liked really, so came home empty handed. This whole internet thing in the flat is amazing! It's so fast as well unlike at school where it is so slow!

Well that was my rather calm weekend, roll on this week eh?!

Neptune

This is simply because I felt Neptune deserved a photo alone because he is so cute.

The dog from downstairs

This is Neptune the dog from downstairs. He belongs to my landlords who live below. He's the coolest poodle in the house! He's got really long hair just now, normally it's all short.

Me

Just for fun here is a photo of me in my bath, fully clothed I might add.

My Christmas Night Out

This is a photo of me out with some of the teachers from the Lycée for a few drinks and a meal on the 9th December. It was nice because I got to know more teachers in the Lycée, as I work more hours in the Collège. I felt very honoured being invited out by the them.

Port Louis

This is Port Louis, as I previously mentioned it is just opposite Larmor Plage. It is a big fortressed port and inside there is a museum, which I also visited.

Larmor Plage

I also live about 30mins away from Lamor Plage, which for those of you who don't speak French is a beach near me. It was in October that I went and it was really warm for that time of year, so I was walking around wearing a t-shirt. Opposite it there is a port called Port Louis, and there are some islands too.

Saint Barbe

So my flatmate Monica took me to visit a place called Saint Barbe. It's right in the middle of trees and at the very top of a hill, totally isolated. The first photo is the Cathedral through a bridge and the second photo was taken above it.

The Town I live in

This is the town where I live in France. As you can see from the photo it was a really nice day when I took the photo. It is a relatively big town, with a lot of shops and a lot of people. Although I find it really strange here that practically everything is closed on a Sunday - except for the bakers that is - and on a Monday morning everything is closed too, even the bakers. I will admit that the bread here is fantastic, I mean we really miss out in Scotland. I live in almost the heart of rural Bretagne (Brittany) in France, however, I am 20mins bus ride away from a fairly large city, that will eventually have an H&M. It is really pretty here, and I'm sure it'll be even nicer in the summer. This was taken in October, when it was still warm here.

My School

So after taking Mike's advice I decided to set up a little blog to let you all know what I've been up to since I left Scotland on the 16th October 2005. First of all here is my school:
